Amy began her work with Lakeside’s River Park Conservancy as a Restoration Intern in 2008. Amy studied Ornamental Horticulture at Cuyamaca College. Her focus has been California native plants and she loves to see and learn about all the living things that are associated with them. Amy’s work as a Production Consultant at Moosa Creek Nursery, Head Grower of Cuyamaca College Nursery and her volunteer work with the California Native Plant Society have helped prepare her for the job of taking care of the plants of the Lakeside River Park Conservancy’s multiple sites. Amy loves being a part of the effort to restore habitat along the San Diego River. |
![]() Field Assistant - Jason Lavach |
Jason has a B.A. in Political Science from San Diego State University. He started at Lakeside’s River Park Conservancy as a volunteer with the “Riverbed Hikers” and later with the “Weed Warriors.” He works closely with Amy Huie identifying and removing invasive plants growing at the River Park’s multiple properties. (Invasive plants are sprayed to make way for native plant species to flourish and attract local wildlife to their native habitat.) Jason grew up in Lakeside and is excited about the River Park’s ongoing and upcoming projects to improve the San Diego River. Jason’s hobbies include hiking, camping, and learning one new thing each day. |
