Volunteer Opportunities
Part of our mission to protect and preserve the San Diego River means that we take action when and where needed...like after a rain.
The water has to go somewhere! Rainwater runoff is carried to the San Diego River through culverts put in place by the county. Unfortunately, toxins, trash and debris that have been improperly discarded travel with the precious rainwater as it makes way to the SD River. A decade ago the River Park constructed a bioswale filtration system to help remove harmful chemicals and heavy metals, and also to keep Lakeside from flooding as it had in years past, but the items large enough to be seen by the naked eye need to be manually removed. This is where volunteers, like YOU, come in to play.
